How It's Calculated

Formula

\text{Annual} = \text{Hourly} \times \text{Hours/Week} \times \text{Weeks/Year}

This calculator converts a single gross-pay figure — entered as hourly, weekly, biweekly, monthly, or annual — into all five equivalents at once. It works out an annual gross figure first from whatever basis you entered, then derives every other period from that one annual number, so all five results are always mutually consistent. This calculator estimates gross pay before taxes and deductions: it does not model federal or state withholding, FICA, filing status, or any pre-tax deductions such as 401(k) contributions. For an estimate of your net take-home pay after taxes, use a dedicated take-home-pay calculator instead. Biweekly pay is always treated as 26 fixed pay periods a year — a biweekly payroll schedule pays out 26 times regardless of how many weeks you actually worked, so it's calculated independently of the Weeks Worked per Year field. Hourly and weekly annualization assumes the hours and weeks you enter are representative of a full year's work; it does not model overtime pay, holiday pay, unpaid leave, or irregular shift premiums.

Worked Examples

Hourly to everything: $25/hour, 40 hours/week, 52 weeks/year

  1. Annual = 25 × 40 × 52 = $52,000.00
  2. Monthly = 52,000 / 12 = $4,333.33
  3. Biweekly = 52,000 / 26 = $2,000.00 (fixed 26 periods/year)
  4. Weekly = 52,000 / 52 = $1,000.00
  5. Hourly = $25.00 (unchanged, this was the entered basis)

Annual to everything: $75,000/year salary

  1. Annual = $75,000.00 (this was the entered basis)
  2. Monthly = 75,000 / 12 = $6,250.00
  3. Biweekly = 75,000 / 26 = $2,884.62
  4. Weekly = 75,000 / 52 = $1,442.31
  5. Hourly (assuming 40 hours/week, 52 weeks/year) = 75,000 / (40 × 52) = $36.06

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this include taxes or deductions?

No. Every figure here is gross pay — before federal or state income tax, FICA, or any pre-tax deductions like 401(k) contributions or health insurance premiums are taken out. Your actual take-home pay will be lower than every number this calculator shows.

Why does biweekly pay not equal exactly half of monthly pay?

Biweekly pay is calculated using a fixed 26 pay periods a year, while monthly pay is annual ÷ 12. Twenty-six biweekly periods and twelve monthly periods don't divide the year in the same proportions (26 × 2 = 52 weeks, but 12 months isn't exactly 52 ÷ 2 weeks each), so biweekly pay is close to, but not exactly, half of monthly pay.

What if I don't work a standard 40-hour week or 52-week year?

Enter your actual hours per week and weeks per year — both fields are editable. The hourly-to-annual (and annual-to-hourly) conversion uses exactly the values you enter, so a 30-hour week or a 48-week year (accounting for unpaid time off) will change the hourly/annual conversion accordingly. Weekly, biweekly, and monthly figures aren't affected by hours per week, since they're already denominated in a period rather than an hourly rate.

Can I use this for a salary in any currency or country?

Yes — this calculator is purely arithmetic conversion between pay periods and doesn't reference any currency, country, or tax jurisdiction. Enter your figures in whatever currency you use; the results will be in the same currency.

What happens if I enter 0 for hours or weeks per year?

Hours per week and weeks per year must both be greater than zero — they're denominators in the annualization formula, so a zero value can't produce a meaningful hourly or annual conversion and is rejected as invalid input rather than silently producing an incorrect number.
